The Kingdom Of God Is Within You! Jesus like John began his ministry by proclaiming that the kingdom of God or heaven was near. I have often considered such nearness to be like a mother who stays at home to be by her baby. She leaves the baby in the room and is maybe washing the babys nappy outside. She is within reach of the baby. She knows that at the least noise of the baby, she will rush to the baby. What is the kingdom about - notwithstanding whether it is near or far? The kingdom of God as the Bible testifies in many places is the establishment of peace, love, justice and all that replaces any kind of evil. The pharisees (who once had my kind of worry) once came to Jesus and asked him when the kingdom of God would come? Jesus replied: The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observations, nor will people say, Here it is, or, There it is, because the kingdom of God is within you (17:20-21). Dear friend what does this imply? The philosopher cried out that you should not look up to the stars for answers but that you should look to thyself for the answer is in you! This means that going by the sociologists we must be conscious that the world we long to transform is represented at our backyards! The internalisation of the kingdom of God presuppose that we should all opt for the golden rule: Do to others what you want others to do to you! Neither do we need any astrologer or diviner to tell us where the kingdom is or when it comes! Dear friend, anytime you and I root out any evil in us, we are hastening the reign of God thereby establishing his kingdom. The prophet Jeremiah longed for the day that no man will teach the other: Know the Lord because Gods law would have been written in every heart. On what a beautiful day! Rev.
