The L Dubya Address Four scores ago, our forefather and mother, - TopicsExpress

The L Dubya Address Four scores ago, our forefather and mother, David and Maryellen Rodgers, brought forth on this earth, a newborn child, conceived in Liberty, and while most men are created equal, certainly he was not. Now we are engaged in a great celebratory moment, testing whether or not we appreciate his God-given gift to endure. Again, we have come to dedicate a portion of our love and heartfelt gratitude to this man, Lott Wesley Rogers, because as a father, working man, but foremost, a man of God, it is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- one of the greatest men to have walked the ground of the Lord’s earth. This brave man, a living example of testicular fortitude, who struggled through the fire and rain, murk and mur, has done so. So it is far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what he did here. It is for us, his friends and family, rather, to be dedicated to give him dedication, and here finish any unfinished work which he fought here so vigorously in order that we may carry on his legacy. Also, it is rather for us to take upon the great task remaining before us -- that from his honorable life we take increased devotion to that cause for which he gave and still gives the last full measure of devotion -- that we hereby highly resolve that his lifes work and byproducts shall not have been in vain -- that this man, father, son, husband, trustee, soldier, mentor--under the divine grace of God, shall have a new sense of purpose, even at four scores -- and that his great name and legacy of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. --This is a take on the Gettysburg Address orated by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. This is important for two reasons: 1. Lott Rogers said this speech in front of his peers at his high school for a passing grade...and... 2. The original speech was made 71 years and 1 day BEFORE his birthday on November 19, 1863; meaning it was 151 years and one day to today! Salute, Dad and enjoy the festivities for your birthday weekend.
