The Lord Baden-Powell Society has generously offered grants to assist Queensland Venturers attend the Australian Venture in January 2015. The grants are made to assist Venturers who, without financial assistance, would not be able to attend. The amount of the award is limited so that any Venturer receiving it will be expected to raise a substantial part of the cost of the event fee and travel costs by their own efforts. Section and Group Leaders must be given an opportunity to indicate their levels of support for the application. After the Venture, each award recipient will be required to write and submit a report (a newsletter article) and electronic photo files via the Queensland Contingent to the Society office. The application and any grants made will be confidential transactions. Interested Venturers will need to: commit to raising a substantial part of the cost of the fees; write and send a letter of application to me by 30 May; be willing to talk to someone on the Contingent Planning Team about how they would benefit from attending the Venture and how a grant would enable that attendance; gain Section and Group Leader support; and commit to providing a written report (minimum 200 words) and electronic photo files by the end of January 2015. In the event that an application for a grant is successful the recipient will need to confirm to me by 20 June that he or she will definitely be attending the Venture. I encourage any Venturer who would like to attend the Venture and who thinks that they could raise sufficient money to cover some of the fees, but not all of it, to commence a registration in their own name at the applications.av2015.scouts.au site today, then submit to me their application for a grant.
