The Los Padres National Forest will be filling 10-15 Wildland Fire Fighter Apprentice (WFAP) positions during the upcoming 2014 Fall Fire Hire. The attached notice provides position titles (all of which may or may not be filled during Fire Hire), points of contact, links to the USAJobs announcement, and additional important information. Candidates must apply in USAJOBS (usajobs.gov). by September 5, 2014, and are encouraged to apply to only to position/location’s on the Forest, that they will accept a position should they receive an offer. TO APPLY This is an outreach notice for WFAP positions at various locations throughout the Los Padres National Forest. Applicants should apply to the duty location of GOLETA, for WFAP positions on the Los Padres National Forest. Specific locations of positions to be filled will be dependent upon Forest needs and candidates may be placed in any of the announced duty locations within the Forest. The nature of the WFAP may require a selectee to move to different duty locations across the Forest to gain expertise and complete program requirements. The Los Padres National Forest anticipates hiring 10-15 Apprentices during Fall 2014 Fire Hire. The Announcement Number for Region 5 (California) WFAP positions is R5-14(1)-WFAP-462-3/4/5DP. This Demo (DP) announcement will be open to temporary government employees (seasonal firefighters), Veterans, members of the general public and current Federal employees. The WFAP vacancy announcement is posted on the U.S. Governments official website for employment opportunities at USAJOBS (usajobs.gov). Applicants must establish a profile and build or upload a resume in USAJOBS. Once applicants have established a profile and resume, that data will be used in all future applications without the need to reenter. Applicants need to attach any required supporting documents, such as a DD-214 if claiming Veterans Preference and High School and/or College Transcripts.
