The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court had, in a previous order, directed that I can file PILs only after taking permission from the State government. After this I had presented representations to file 3 PILs. They were about RTI fees of Rs. 50 in Allahabad High Court while it is Rs. 10 everywhere else, about non-recovery of penalty imposed by UP State Information Commission on Public Information Officers and about review of penalty order by the Information Commission, which to my legal knowledge is against the provision of law. The High Court today directed the State government to take decision on the representations made by me seeking permission to file these PIls in 3 cases expeditiously. The bench consisting of Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza and Justice D K Upadhyaya said that the State government shall decide about these representations, at the earliest. The Court said that though an omnibus mandamus for deciding any future representation to file PILs may not be issued, but the State Government shall consider such each representation expeditiously. To me this order paves way for my making useful contribution to public causes through PILs.
