The Master Chronicles: Sach I Few Anecdotes, Facts, etc that I would like to share. Heres the first of the series: 1. Today, i.e. November 15, 2013, apart from being Day 2 of the SRT200 Test at the Wankhede, also happens to be Caribbean paceman Tino Bests sons birthday (they in the Caribbean are of course one day behind). As the dad Best called up to wish his son, his little kid asked for Sachins wicket as birthday gift from his father. The birthday boy added, I want Sachin Tendulkars wicket, but only after Sachin has completed his century. 2. Quite some time ago, probably during the 2002 Indian tour to the West Indies, Sachin, Deep Dasgupta and Shib Sundar Das decided to go out for lunch. They took a cab, introduced themselves as US tourists and asked the cabbie to drive them to some good food joint. On way, the cabbie advised them to go and watch the ensuing Test match between the West Indies and India. Sachin feigned ignorance about the game of cricket and the cabbie passionately and elaborately explained the game of cricket to his cricket-ignorant customer. Not only this, the cabbie, a true lover of the sport, told them, Do go and watch the match, else you will miss witnessing a great cricketer named Sachin Tendulkar from India. Deep and SS, both in the back seat, found it difficult not to burst into a laugh. But, the masters face didnt betray his feigned ignorance about cricket in cloak of a typical US tourist. As the cab reached destination and the three got down, Deep was trying to introduce the cabbie to the Man himself. But, Sachin stopped him from doing that. Because, as he later admitted, Sachin feels quite embarrassed in such situations. So! A lesson in humility, eh?
