The Meaning of Life. Here’s a funny paradox: If we would - TopicsExpress

The Meaning of Life. Here’s a funny paradox: If we would know the meaning of life up ahead there would be no reason to live it. Just think about it. If you would know in advance what you were going to learn, there would be no reason to learn it, as you would already know the end result…never mind the fact you’d probably avoid the way you were going to learn, as most learning curves are tough cookies to crack. It’s like a Koan, the thought provoking controversial sentences that Zen monks use to test their progress. Phrases not yet mastered for their meaning, such as : The Sound of One Hand Clapping. Pieces of insight a human being can only grasp when he or she steps out of the treadmill of daily life and exchanges ‘the good life’ for a search for answers. Comfortable as it may seem, we are not meant to lean back in the lounge cushions, put our feet on the footstools and zap through the diversion of television channels. We are in fact not meant to be entertained; on the contrary we are meant to go out and enrich ourselves; not in the material sense of the word as many mistakenly think, but in the mysterious sense of the word, as in enlightening oneself, finding the answers to seemingly unanswerable questions like the sound of one hand clapping, or to go back to the start: The Meaning of Life. ‘All the world’s a stage”, the wise Shakespeare wrote, ‘And all the men and women merely players.’ ‘They have their exits and their entrances’ he continues, ‘and one man in his time plays many parts’ And that is the whole thing, I’m almost tempted to say :”all there is to it” . The Meaning of Life is that every human being is tossed into learning curves several times in the course of a lifetime; case studies given to the case-student to find the best applicable solution, i.e. answers. If we don’t get the message, our lives will repeat the lesson over and over again until it becomes ‘the story of our lives’ like eddies in a river, making us go round and round until we grow dizzy circling and are eager to find out where we went wrong and what could be done better. So heres something to practice on: Reproduce the sound of one hand clapping. The answer can be found in the attachment :)
