The Mindanao Human Rights Action Center reports: At around 4 PM yesterday, December 2, 2013, about 50 armed men reportedly ambushed a group of civilians in Barangay Patot, Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, killing one civilian identified as the Imam (Mosque leader). The ambush resulted to a gunfight that lasted for an hour. Residents of the said barangay were immediately displaced and sought shelter to Patot Elementary School. They are calling for immediate action on the recent conflict incidents in their area. This is the latest in a series of incidents involving this barangay and represents an escalation notwithstanding efforts of local government units to pacify it.
