The Missing President? Tayali Questions Arrival of Sata Recently the Post Newspaper (as well as Zambia Reports) carried news that President Michael Sata had returned to Lusaka from his medical treatment in Israel this weekend. However, Chilufya Tayali, the editor of The Zambian Voice, has disputed the accuracy of these reports, reporting that he was personally camped out near the runway at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at the alleged time of arrival and did not observe any arrival of the presidential aircraft. Ever since President Sata departed for Israel, the Zambian media has been overrun with rumours, many of them misleading, regarding the location and status of the president. With almost two days past since the president allegedly arrived home, there has still been no official confirmation or statement from the government. Tayali’s full statement is below. It is now very worrisome that clear lies have started propping up on the arrival of President Sata from Israel. The Post reported that the President arrived aboard the Challenger jet at 22:05hrs at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 22:05hrs. This is a blatant lie and I am here to be challenged on this one. The President did not land at KKIA at that time or at least between 20:00hrs and 00:00hrs because I was there watching the runaway closely to see my president back. I believe in telling the TRUTH not lies. I do not fear to tell it as it is. With such lies it is now imperative that Government comes out clean and prove that the President is in the Country and he is well. Let him come out and assure us that he is here (in the Country) and leading us a Nation. We have a right to know of his whereabout and his status when so much speculations have ensued. Further After he should get ride of the Minister of Information for not doing his job properly. He has done nothing to dispel these speculations of his whereabout and health. Mostly these speculations have exacerbated by the failure of Government to answer promptly and convincingly on the questions that citizens have been asking. I love the President, like many Zambians that voted for him, so we need to know about him and of him. We have the right to demand for it. zambiareports/2014/07/06/missing-president-tayali-questions-arrival-sata/
