The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office would like to highlight two crimes that occurred in the South Montgomery area and though probably not related the crimes were directed at some of the county’s most valuable citizens, our seniors. On July 10, 2013, the Sheriff’s Office was called to a home on Spring Ridge Drive and met with a 75 year old home owner. The deputy learned that the victim had just returned home from the store and a truck pulled into the driveway and one of the occupants offered to help the victim take grocery bags inside the home. The suspect engaged the victim in conversation luring him to the backyard talking about cutting tree limbs. The victim told the deputy that the suspect said he had to leave and entered the victim’s home through the backdoor and left quickly out of the front door. The victim uses a cane and could not keep up. The victim saw the suspects driving away and saw personal items from inside his home in the driveway near where the suspect’s truck had been parked. The victim found other items missing from inside the home. The victim believes that while in the backyard the other suspect entered his home taking his property. Vehicle: bright red truck Suspects: Possibly Middle Eastern/dark hair/speaks fluent English On September 16, 2013, suspects knocked on the front door of a home on Brook Hollow Drive and the 89 year old resident was confronted by a suspect who said that he was employed by “the County and the State” and was there to convert the power-lines in the backyard to an underground system. The suspect lured the victim to the backyard and feigned taking measurements. The victim said that the suspect after about 30 minutes told her that he was going to his car but never returned. Later that day the victim found numerous items missing from her home including a pillowcase. It is believed that a second suspect entered the home and took the property while the victim was distracted. The victim did not see a vehicle.
