The Mountain of Serendib, a hiking expedition following in the footsteps of the great explorers, kings & our ancestors. The 1000 year old trail starts at the foothills of the peak wilderness sanctuary, Climbing 2000 meters along 13,000 steps/9.5kms up Baba/Adam/ Ratnapura trail to the summit and descending 1000 meters along 6000 steps/6km’s down Mama/Eve/Delhouse trail. The 2014, 29-30 Nov expedition party comprised of two sets of brothers Brian & Clement, Harsha & Dimuth also friends Kelsi & Moin. This was a first time climb for the majority and the first for all to complete the full trail (Ratnapura to Hatton). It took the group 15.5 hours to complete the expedition with many rest stops and challenges on the way. This expedition also marked a historical event being the first ever-commercial night hiking experience in SL. Personal achievements were many for the 6 hikers, but non are greater than being selected as the first official members of the Elite “2000M peaks club of Sri lanka”.
