←The Mustang Memoirs→ Brothers, I know it seems like I’m “on the attack”, but I warned you in advance I would have things to say you might disagree with or think are out of place. But if you research the Bible verses I have referenced and follow the context of the topic you will see; I have no intention of leading you astray! What I am saying is scriptural and accurate! So let me continue with my chain of thought so you will realize the perspective of the New Testament Church. The first churches, made up of baby believers, was getting along just fine without all the Hoopla this 21st century church of ours has! They were in a tough position and a tough world but walking in a “way” which was astounding. They paved the way for every believer in Jesus since then by documenting the miraculous, the spiritual, the extraordinary and the transcendent works of faith accomplished by the young saints. They discovered how faith and love work together to confirm God’s Word! The blessings, of all sorts (good or not), poured out to them like down-pouring rain from Heaven. They rejoiced in persecutions and celebrated obstacles. When they faced religious prejudices they found stronger resolves with words uttered by God’s Spirit on the spur of the moment. They were unwavering and unstoppable because Jesus was at work in their hearts and they had nothing else to offer them hope than the proof of the living God in their midst. I hold the opinion that the modern churches have maybe 10% the Spiritual inspiration and even less spiritual knowledge (revelation); we’ve suffered from our prosperity and misplaced our priorities as “the Body of Christ”. My opinion……. The 2nd Chapter of Acts…..is were you can read about how this brand new Way operated; in total reliance on their FAITH in God, while discovering the principle attribute of God’s plan, LOVE, was the most powerful motivator of life! They discovered the TRUTH through acting in love thru faith; the truth that God personally added to the church daily those that were being saved. They sold everything they had in order to provide every need, so no one went without, because they experienced the Love of sacrificing for someone besides themselves. They became the church, alive! PLEASE, read Chapter 2! Actually, read all of it because the Acts of the Apostles is the pattern Jesus wanted us to immolate so we would be the church of His Body in this world. And, if you can find anywhere in the book, any reference of (or to) adhering to the Law of Moses as an appropriate doctrine for the Body of Christ please reply to my letter with that reference! Since Jesus, allowed ‘His body’ to be nailed to the cross in order TO put-it-to-death the law-way of justification; I really hope you can see the absurdity of the concept. In fact, whenever we are so weak in our faith and obstinately self-reliant that we use the legalism of acting as gods to accomplish what might seem too difficult, aren’t we adding another nail to Christ’s pierced and bloodied body on the Cross? God….FORBID it! Brothers, I am ashamed and embarrassed by the fact that nearly every church I have been to or served in or helped start has “fallen back” on legalism when it seemed that God had left them “on their own” to support a mission trip or build a building or pay the preacher a bigger salary so he could stay and lead the church; ashamed I said, and embarrassed! And, I am done with it. There is a better way; Jesus showed us how!
