The Non-Academic Staff of Universities, NASU & the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU have threatened to join their counterpart, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU in the on-going indefinite strike, if their 2009 agreement with Federal government are not met, urgently. This will see a total shut down of university system in Nigeria. ASUU had embarked on what it termed "total, comprehensive & indefinite" strike on July 1. A meeting between FG & ASUU last week was deadlocked. If NASU & SSANU make good their threat, the implication will be severe not just on the students, but to the entire society. It will be recalled that ASUP, Polytechnic version of ASUU, just called off their 3 months old strike last Tuesday.
