The Official Site of Sheda Vasseghi A prominent author, Zaynab Fawwaz (1850-1914), moved from her home country Lebanon to Egypt as a young woman in pursuit of her fortune … in due course, Fawwaz focused on studying history and sciences of religion … her literary works revolved around social reform, poetry and history with her focus on liberation of women … in 1905, Fawwaz wrote a novel entitled “Cyrus the Great, the First King of Persia” [Al-Malik Kurush awwal muluk al-Fars] which includes the rise of Cyrus and, according to “Arabs and Ottomans” by Caesar Farah, “the role women could play in the life of a state and kingdom”… it would be interesting to get a hold of this book but doubt it’s been translated… [pic Wikipaintings: “Cyrus Restores the Vessels of the Temple” by 19th c.
