The PROGRESS and the THIEVES; A case study of Aregbesola and Olunloyo by Ologun Ayodeji by Ologun Ayodeji When I watched the rally of the APC in Ede yesterday where the former governor of The Old Oyo State, Chief Omololu Olunloyo was dancing the usual Skelewu with the outgoing governor of Osun state, canvassing votes for him in a state where he himself does not have a voting right, my heart bled and history came to mind. It is pertinent to remind Aregbesola and his co Skelewu dancers that the Omololu Olunloyos NPN did not only Rig Chief Bola Ige out of the governorship of the old Oyo State, they also massively rigged the 1983 election and unleashed electoral violence of unimaginable proportion on the country, in the march to one party rule and political monolithsm. Oyo, Ondo and Bendel States were snatched from the UPN while the other parties were equally decimated in what amounted to sheer electoral robbery. The violent protests that trailed that brigandage provided the opportunity for the sacking of the Second Republic by General Buhari and company on December 31, 1983. It is a painful sight to see a beneficiary of election rigging canvassing votes for the supposed son of that same person whose victory was rigged and overturned. A very good student of history will recall what happened in the year 1983, when Olunloyo and Late Bola Ige contested for the office of the governor of the old Oyo State. Like it was in the 1993 election, it was clear that late Chief Bola Ige won the election but in the interest of a few, the election was rigged in favor of Chief Olunloyo. It is then heartbreaking that Aregbesola and his likes who calls and sees Bola Ige as a Demi God and one person in whose history and honor, name and fame they base their ascendancy to office will now stand side by side with that one person who cheated their God and rigged him years back to solicit for votes even on the state home soil of the referred Bola Ige. This simply amounts to dancing on the grave of Bola Ige and calling justification for what happened back in 1983. When these hypocrites cries out degradingly and lies about who killed Bola Ige, I do wish the dead can be given a brief chance of seeing what is been done behind them and meting out commiserate punishment to those that dishonor their memory for personal gain. If an Olunloyo who was a rigger then, is now because of identifying and benefitting from an institution he once brought down is called a progressive, then, we need a check. I have always said that politicians and diapers have one thing in common, they both should be changed regularly and for the same reason: when they get soiled. It is very clear that Aregbesola has soiled his diaper and needs be changed. Like a baby, he is crying so loud and so painfully too that he would not care even if a Sanni Abacha could come back to life and solicits for votes for him and be dogged the title of a progressive. It is very clear that this so called Progrethieves are our enemies and suffice to say they are innovative ones. They never stop at thinking of new ways to harm our entity and our people neither would we stop at crying out and doing all that is necessary to stop them. They have always believed that democracy is where any two or more idiots will outvote a genius and has always act as such but It needs be made clear that the tides have changed and the people knows better beyond the facade of lies and will stop at nothing to make change possible and peacefully too. Aregbesolas case is that of a singer who is not wanted in town and keeps turning out tunes. No one will dance to such tunes no matter how melodious it sounds. The people craves for a genuine change and like a wind, they will make that possible through their votes irrespective of how much noise is made and how much lies are told. When Bernice Johnson opined that if you are in a coalition and you are comfortable, you know it is not a broad enough coalition such is what the sinking ship of Aregbesola suffers. He very well knows he is in a boat with strange fellows but pretends as if it is broad enough to accommodate all. The ship surely will sink and soon too. One of the nuisances of the ballot is that when the oracle has spoken, you never know what it means. The failing team of Aregbesola has heard the oracle speak O DABOO to them severally but they seems not to know or understand what it means. Politics should be to serve the the people around, serving the community and serving those who will come behind. Its deepest root are moral because it is a responsibility expressed through action, to and for the whole. Aregbesola and his cohorts of liars have always spoken to us their own words. They say to us, we the conglomerates, then they say to us, we the corporations and we say to them, NO! It is we THE PEOPLE and the we the people say to Aregbesola and his team, farewell! O daboooo.
