The Pentecostal way: Years ago I was in a time of deep seeking the presence of God, and I was doing everything that I could to muster up the spirit within me with out any results. I found that if you are looking for God in your religion you will always fail. God is Spirit and those who worship Him do so in Spirit and in Truth. The Pentecostal experience of speaking in tongues is one of the most controversial experiences known to the Christian. I have found that this beautiful gift is a doorway into the very Spirit and presence of God Almighty. I have been questioned many times for my steadfast belief in this gift and its real time need in todays Spiritual life. Those who condemn it are those who have never explored it. This experience is misunderstood so much that the modern Spirit Filled churchs have done their best to dis - clued it from the church experience. The biggest issue in church is the misunderstand of the difference between the gift used in a church service, which must be accompanied by the gift of interpretation and the gift of tongues as a prayer langue. The bible says in the book of 1st Corinthians 12 that there are different kinds of tongues. Why do we assume that it is speaking about different language only? Different kinds can also mean tongues used in different ways. Such as in a service, or in ones personal prayer language. I just think that we spend way to much time arguing over the gift and we miss the Giver. We also should never put God in a box of our own liking, He is God! Nuff said about that.
