The President and his various errors in judgment I find it amusing if not ridiculous when some die-hard sycophants of our President defend every step he takes, attack every criticism directed at him and try to vilify or intimidate everyone who criticizes him. The amusement comes mostly from the lack of soundness or ridiculousness of the defenses put forward most times, if you are not immediately accused of being opposition, you are accused of being tribalistic or being envious for not being considered for appointment (a popular one reserved for the likes of Oby Ezeks and Tam David-West) Honestly, I always try to do a bit of introspection and wonder whether it is because I have anything personal against the president that I continue seeing what is obvious. What is obvious are the clueless missteps that characterize his nearly every move. I find it hard to remember one past occupant of that exalted office that has invited so much ridicule to himself or to his administration. When I am asked why I always criticize the president , my question in response is why is he always ridiculing his office? If you dont give reason to be criticized it is highly unlikely that you will be criticized. With GEJ it is no exaggeration to say that almost every step he takes has k-leg (apologies to OBJ). Take a look at the recent hashtag clamor #bringback nonsense which he recently denounced, it is apparent that this campaign was birthed insider Aso Rock and spearheaded by insiders such as Doyin Okupe. Even his late efforts at denouncing it just shows how ridiculous it gets... he had to wait for Washington Post to denounce it before he realized that it was repugnant, distasteful and insensitive. This is the same man that needed a 17 year old Pakistani girl to make him realize that it was appropriate to meet with parents of the Chibok girls. Again the lights are not yet quite out on when he was sighted in the company of alleged Boko Haram sponsor on a recent trip to Chad ....of course his sycophants will say the alleged has not been convicted, but why does he have to find solace in the company of a questionable character??? What if he is subsequently found to be culpable? There is a cloud hanging over his head, why not let the cloud first clear? Would his trip have been less successful if Sheriff Modu was not a part of it? It is the same story with Stellah Oduah, who was had a cloud hanging over her head, yet the same GEJ found it expedient to include her on his entourage to Israel.... And then soimebody go vex when I say this is CLUELESS.... not quite done with his embarrassing errors in judgment, he gives Abacha a National award on the same week his Minister for Finance is announcing about recoveries of the funds the same Abacha looted from the treasury.... This is the same man that wants to give the international community the impression that he is addressing Nigerias problems and goes on to try to diminish the impact of corruption in our Nigeria by pronouncing that Corruption is over-rated in Nigeria and it is not the same thing as stealing.... Yet not done yet he pardons criminals like Alams and finds solace in the company of such people and would rather distance himself from people like SLS who shout themselves coarse about the stealing in the Government. It is pathetic, but little wonder that he has lost the respect or confidence of major international political players, such that he is constantly relegated in pictures when he meets with his contemporaries (fellow presidents) and looks like a fish out of water incapable of effectively engaging with them. It hurts, it is annoying when a man who was ushered in with so much local and international goodwill has seriously, for inexplicable reasons, undermined all that he came in with. What message are you sending meeting with an alleged Boko Haram sponsor??? Abeg this na one chance presidency wey we dey deal with
