The President of the Sergeants Benevolent Society, Sgt Ed Mullins - TopicsExpress

The President of the Sergeants Benevolent Society, Sgt Ed Mullins was among those who turned their backs on NY Mayor de Blasio in the hospital hallway. He also stated publicly that de Blasio has blood on his hands, the blood of the murdered officers. Mullins describes how de Blasio was elected based on a campaign against the NYPD and a no point along the line has he ever been on the side of law enforcement. He says that it is only as the result of the deaths of the two officers that de Blasio is now instructing the agitators and protesters to comply with lawful orders and to respect the police. It hasn’t been the case in the past. He says he stands by his decision and that of his fellow officers to turn their backs on de Blasio, that he needs to lead and “He’s not doing that right now.” Mullins points out how it has been a week since de Blasio sat down and strategized with the protesters and tomorrow will be a week since the officers were slain. De Blasio has yet to reach out to contact any of the police unions or make any other overtures. He says he’s basically just hiding behind the popularity of the police commissioner. Sgt Mullins says that Mayor de Blasio needs to acquire some humility and that there is a willingness on his part and that of others who represent the NYPD to get beyond this inflammatory stage and work together with community leaders of credibility. He named several, noticeably absent from that list was the race pimp Al Sharpton.
