The Principal Kabira Technical Institute in Mitooma district was yesterday evening arrested by police in Mitooma for allegedly embezzling money. The Mitooma Resident District Commissioner, Guma Nuwagaba said that Wilson Tumuramye was arrested after he failed to account for over 50 million shillings which was meant to pay contractors that was built three class room blocks at the institute. Nuwagaba said that Tumuramye being a principal signatory to the institute’s account, he allegedly withdrew the money and used it for personnel gains. He explained that a crisis meeting of stakeholders was held two months ago and Tumuramye confessed having used the money in other things, apart from the contractors. The Mitooma District Police Commander, Grace Mutono confirmed the arrest of Wilson Tumuramye and said that he is currently being detained at Mitooma district prison. Mutono said that Tumuramye will be taken to court to face charges of embezzlement and abuse of office.
