The Problem With Black America Part 1 This problem will not be solved easily. It is very deeply rooted and very complicated. First of all to understand what is happening we have to go back to the beginning when we were brought to America as slaves. Our ancestors were ripped from their families and forced to go to a strange place to work and live under extreme violent and inhumane conditions. There is no need for me to elaborate. Everyone already knows about the unfortunate history of blacks in America. Although the end of 245 years of slavery was in 1865, freed slaves had no real outlet to work and make a decent life for themselves. Many of the freed slaves unable to find work were forced to become sharecroppers which isnt really any different from being a slave. Only difference was that they werent beaten as much and didnt have to worry about being forcefully sold and separated from their families. Other than that they were still stuck in the fields picking cotton for little to no money. Other freed slaves went north to work hard labor on railroads or as maids, cooks, and cleaners etc... Only a handful of blacks were lucky enough to be able to start their own business. During this time, although blacks were free from slavery, they were still kept separated from whites in many ways. Both by law and also by prejudice. This is important and keep this in mind because the low income class housing and education available for blacks would play a significant role in the future, which is now our present. It was not until another 100 years in the mid 1960s that the civil rights and voting rights movement would end the inequality of blacks suffering under the notorious segregation laws of Jim Crow. Yes, believe it or not blacks in America have only had about 50 years of so called racial and voting equality in the United States. To understand the relevancy of all of this to Ferguson, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and such please read this to the end. It will all start to make sense as you read and understand what I would like to refer to as the design that black people are living in, in America.
