The Proposal When I see romantic proposals like the one I just - TopicsExpress

The Proposal When I see romantic proposals like the one I just posted, they always make me smile. It is obvious that there was a lot of love, thought and consideration put into making the proposal just perfect. It takes me back to my impromptu proposal from Todd Reaves. Todd was playing in the Men’s Major National Softball Tournament in Panama City Beach, Florida. We had been dating exactly two months. I was getting ready to go to the ball field when he knocked on the door of my hotel room. He was talking to me while I rolled my hair. He called my name and asked me to come and sit by him for a minute, so I did. Todd looked at me and said, “I have been thinking about something. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” In all honesty, I thought he was kidding, so I laughed and said, “yeah sure” and went back to rolling my hair. Todd called my name a second time and I turned around and looked at him. When I saw the look on his face I realized he was not joking. He said, “I am serious Lisa!” I knew from the first moment I laid eyes on him that one day he would be my husband, so I said yes. He did not get down on one knee. He did not have a ring. All he was offering me was himself…and that was enough. He played ball and we went out to dinner at Angelo’s Steak House. After we ate, Todd bought me a glass engagement ring in the gift shop. We had a big laugh about it but I wore it proudly. I still have it today. That night, as we held hands and walked on the beach, he sang me the song Dream On by the Oak Ridge Boys. I didn’t have the creative, romantic proposal, but nonetheless, it was perfect. Recently I was asked if I wanted an engagement ring (and no, he wasnt proposing to me. Unfortunately he doesnt feel that way about me). I do hope God will bless me with someone that can love me for who I am, who can appreciate my good qualities and love me in spite of my flaws and can respect the battle scars that I have from living my life. Although I love jewelry (my only girly characteristic), I would like to think that I would love my Chapter 2 enough, that he would know an engagement ring would be cherished but that it wasn’t an essential. In this lifetime, it is people and not material things that are important. Make sure you show your love today!
