The REDS Academy for the 2015 season has come to an end and another very successful program which the players got a lot of value from there efforts. The program started November the 6th with 2 sessions a week and the odd Saturday and this year dropping to one session but then doing 2 club sessions. This was a big commitment undertaken by the players and they responded well and really got stuck into the training. Junior ran tough sessions which the players enjoyed and the final testing session showed some great results 5k run times all improved and 1 player improved by 4 minutes all beep tests were improved by about 20%. Weights lifted improved, on average 20kg with higher reps. This is the 3rd year of the Academy and its crucial that it continues each year and I would like to thank the SDRC board for their support in this program. Without doubt the biggest thanks go to Junior Taale who owns IDefine fitness complex for running the program with Alex Suter the Colts 1st grade head coach. It is a massive weekly undertaking but I am sure both will agree its rewarding when you see the effort put in by the players. I would like to thank Ashcroft Packaging for being the main sponsor and Gus Young from One Zero communications for their sponsorship which allowed us to buy training shirts, recovery drinks and protein for the players. I would also like to thank Sportsmagic for designing our training shirts and giving us a good deal. We look forward to the REDS Academy starting up again in November but before then we have some rugby games to win which will be possible due to the REDS Academy. Keith Holmes - SD Colts Coordinator
