The Race Father, thank You for men and women of faith - TopicsExpress

The Race Father, thank You for men and women of faith throughout history whose hearts were fashioned in Your image. They faithfully served Your purpose in their generation, staying the course, running persistently by faith. As we continue to seek You first, please reveal to us our earthly assignment. Please keep us sober, strong and vigilant as we run this race at a steady pace before us and not anxiously as a sprint. In this race, we’re not in competition to be the only prizewinner. Instead we take hold of the hands of those who run with us, those who’ve fallen and struggle to get up, and we invite others on the sidelines to join us. As we cross the finish line we will receive the grand prize of life eternal with You because of Jesus. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. 1 Cor. 9:24-27
