The Reconnect with Nature Project: Bringing Nature Home to Long-term Care: In September 2014, members of the Reconnect with Nature Project: Bringing Nature Home to Long-term Care were awarded the annual “Group Volunteer” award by the Virginia Health Care Association (VHCA). The project was envisioned and implemented by Upaya Chaplaincy graduate (2013), Julie Connelly, who is a retired physician. The VHCA is an organization composed of members representing 300 long-term care facilities in the state of Virginia. Their aim is to advocate and guide long-term care quality and development in the state. The association recognized the Old Rag Master Naturalist’s volunteer group for their dedication to bringing nature into the lives of residents who live in long-term care.
