The Rosary today The Joyful Mysteries Saturday 18th October 2014 Queen of the Holy Rosary, you came to Fatima to reveal to the three shepherd children the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary. Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion, in order that by meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption which are recalled in it, I may obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners, and the favour which I ask of you in this Rosary (Mention your request). I ask it for the greater glory of God, for your own honour, and for the good of souls, especially for my own. I offer this Rosary for the purpose of knowing the Truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for my sins. Amen. With Mary, we will understand better the transforming power of the Eucharist. By listening to Mary, we will find in the Eucharist mystery the courage and energy to follow Christ, the good shepherd and to serve him as his people. The Rosary, while Marian in character, is a prayer with Christ at its centre. It contains all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety. With the Rosary, we sit at the school of Mary and are led to contemplate the beauty of Christ and experience, in a profound way, the depths of his love. To recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate the face of Jesus with Mary as our companion and teacher. Our faith tells us that Christ is really present today as he was 2000+ years ago with his Mother and disciples. What better way, therefore, to get to know our Lord, than saying the Rosary and meditating on his life Todays rosary prayers are the Joyful Mysteries: The angels annunciation of Christs coming (Luke 1:26-38) Intention: That we may always make a worthy Communion Prayer: Lord Jesus, may we receive the holy Sacrament just as Mary received your word and following her example be always ready to do your will. Amen Marys visit to Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-56) Intention: Those who are unable to attend mass Prayer: Lord Jesus, transformed by your grace, help each of us to make known your presence when we are with those who are close to us. Amen The birth of Christ (Luke 2:1-20) Intention: That we may set our hearts on Christ and not on this world Prayer: Lord Jesus, keep our hearts set on the things of heaven and not this earth. For it is where our heart is that our true home will be. Amen Jesus presentation in the temple as an infant (Luke 2:22-39) Intention: That we may each be granted a holy death Prayer: Lord Jesus, in the blessed Sacrament, our eyes have truly seen your salvation. Be with us each day on our earthly journey and bring each of us at the end of our earthly ministry to your eternal home. Amen Finding the boy Jesus in the temple (Luke 2:42-52) Intention: That we may constantly seek the Lord Prayer: Lord Jesus, too often do we depart from your love. Give us strength and a heart of flesh; transform our body into a tabernacle, where you may dwell for eternity. Amen Let us pray: O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech you, that meditating on these mysteries of the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen
