The Russian economy is falling apart but Putin is still citing old arguments for keeping Crimea. We are righting a historical wrong or a weak argument that Crimea has religious landmarks in it that are sacred to all Russians. Putin did not tell us how he is going to save the Russian economy. From 2000 to 2008 Putin increased the incomes of the Russian People. Three fold if you believe Wikipedia. He is a god in Russia. He can do no wrong. And this is why his people support him. Hitler also improved the German economy from 1933 to 1938 and then Hitler started invading little countries and then big countries...The German people supported Hitlers desire for Lebensraum without major dissent. Without cash flow into Russia, how will the oligarchs stay rich and what will the people eat this winter, oil? Will Putin invade Belarus and Poland to make his people forget the terrible economy in Russia. After all, I am sure that these countries have historical ties to Russia and they need invading, right. It worked for Hitler... He wants to restore Russian empire as it was a few centuries ago. in this case an Italian President could attempt to restore Roman Empire, and other countries too... the would be no end to war, death and destruction. The West failed to explained to Mr. Putin that the borders of Europe will not be moved. Putin also violated Budapest Memorandum.
