The SAIRR released their annual “South Africa Survey” for 2012 - TopicsExpress

The SAIRR released their annual “South Africa Survey” for 2012 yesterday showing that there are 100 recipients of social grants for every 90 people that work for a living. This ratio is going to increase in 2013/2014. It is interesting to note that the worker/social grant receiver ratio in 2001 was standing at 330 workers for every 100 grant receivers. In a mere 11 years the ratio has completely reversed and is showing a negative curve. Couple this with the fact that our labour productivity has decreased by a whopping 41.2% since 1991 and it is obvious that the situation is unsustainable.
