The SC bench comprising of Justices H.L. Dattu and A.R. Dave stayed the execution of death sentence of Surinder Koli for a period of one week in an order passed at 1:40 AM today. Koli was found guilty of serial rapes and murders between 2005 and 2006. The application on behalf of Koli was moved by Senior Advocate, Indira Jaising who referred to the September 2 verdict of the SC in which it had held that the review plea of condemned prisoners must be given an open court hearing.
