The Secret is out! I applied for the vacant judge position! The poll of my fellow lawyers in the Tenth Judicial Circuit went out and there are eight of us on the ballot. I felt the time was right for me to make the attempt, as I felt honestly I can and would be a good judge. I told my staff to not get worried about me leaving, again I am one of eight and there are many fine candidates on that list and some may think I am too old for the job, I disagree most vigorously and politely. Funny I never though I would be the banner carrier for older people, but I think I am just as capable, even more so now, versus when I was at forty years of age, as the additional seasoning has helped broaden my perspectives and add wisdom to my judgments. Whatever happens I thank all of you for standing by me all these years and I hope and pray I get the chance to serve you further as judge. This is about all I better say other than until things change I am heading back to work, love helping the under dog which I have done for over 36 years now. As my favorite singer Elton John said, I am still standing better than I ever did, feeling like a true survivor, like a little kid. I am still standing yes indeed! it is the spirit of youth and the desire to do right by people and help them get what they have earned or deserve by our system of law. This is what makes me feel younger going and helping people that is why I decided to become a Social security Disability, the good Lord sent me in that direction and I have never regretted that I serve those who need help. It may not have been the most lucrative areas, but it was what I wanted to do to serve. My parents taught by their example of self sacrificing service to our community and I carry that tradition on and am glad and proud to have been able to do so.It has been my great privilege to serve, without concern for making lots of money. Making money was never my primary goal, it was and has always been to help others. This is why I am so thankful God allowed me to become a lawyer and to serve! Serve I shall so I head out to work, have a great day everyone!
