The Senate of Maryland September 26, 2013 Dear Friends: Today I proudly joined President Obama at Prince George’s Community College to encourage students, parents and friends who do not have health insurance to take advantage of Maryland’s new health insurance market place to shop for and purchase coverage beginning this Tuesday, October 1st. President Obama praised Maryland for the two year effort to set up our own market place where individuals can shop for a plan that suits their needs and budget. Anyone who does not have access to employer coverage can purchase health insurance that will provide a comprehensive set of benefits, including doctor visits, preventive care, hospital stays, and prescriptions. Small businesses in Maryland will have the opportunity to purchase coverage for themselves and their employees through the Maryland Health Connection as well. To review your options and apply for coverage go to marylandhealthconnection.gov or call 1-855-642-8572. Keep in mind – the chance to purchase this health insurance coverage will end Sunday, March 30, 2014.. If you do not buy coverage before then you will have to wait until next year. If you get sick and need a doctor or hospital you will have to pay for it yourself. Don’t miss this opportunity! I am certainly proud of this Administration and the General Assembly as we set up the framework for this historical program over the last two years.
