The Shady Punter is back with the previews for this weeks games : There is less than 4% separating 2nd and 4th place and an incredible 0.1% between 2nd and 3rd place. This is truly an incredible season and we’re not even at finals yet. Here are the previews for Round 8 which promises to be one for the ages! Bombers v Demons The Demons are going to look a lot different than the team that beat the Eagles in the dying moments of last week’s game. They will be without 2 big defensive assets in Chris M who is gone for the season by signing a pro contract and Kyle Sakaguchi who has a spa day scheduled in Tremblant. Dan Robinson is still away in Oz and Kyle Graham might make an appearance but rumor has it that the man made of glass is still some way from returning to the footy pitch. On the plus side, the Demons are going to be able to count on the return of Veronique, Nathan and Paul. A surprise inclusion this week is Nico Pouessel who is back from his month long absence after getting deported from the US for indecent exposure. After the stern warning received last week, fiery midfielder Lawless was able to stay on the field… he will be closely watched on the weekend again! The Bombers are hampered by the Burning Man festival who has taken away two very valuable assets in Stevie Owens and Zac Strevens who have decided to forgo footy in order to live like nomads for the next 10 days. International Man of mystery Kevin Barranco is also out along with Josue who is being rested for Finals. Not all bad news though as we might see the return of everyone’s favorite Indian in Ali Telya who is looking to get over a bad bruise with a game of footy. David Zinno is also back from his longer-than expected trip around Europe. French national team player Jean-François is making a comeback into the team after a club imposed suspension for peptides. 0.1% separates these two teams in the standings, and the winner will take a serious option on 2nd place for finals. The Bombers have had the Demons number this year and the Punter believes that this will continue on Sunday. Bombers by a kick; probably after the siren Eagles v Dockers Former rookie of the year and recently married Guy-Joel Rocher is making his long awaited return to footy this weekend after being on the shelf for the past 2 months with a nagging knee injury. He will be one of no less than 4 Dockers making their comeback this weekend; Ed Duff, John ‘The Brit’ Kavaney and diamond in the rough Mark Guterman are all back for the Old Montreal fishermen this Sunday. The Burning Man festival has made yet another casualty with Manus missing the match. Toby ‘Behind’ Campain will be one to watch as he goes for the single season goal scoring record. He needs only 4 goals to equal national Canadian team player Cam Stark who got 28 goals in 2009. Can he do it?! The punter thinks so!!! The Eagles have been extremely secretive about their team selection so the punter hasn’t been able to gather too much information. What is known however is that Marc St Germain will be making his long awaited return to the side after taking a much needed vacation. Reclusive Eliot Kemptser will also be making his return to the Eagles side; he needs to play the next two games if he wants to be eligible to play during finals so Coach Payne is making sure he’s going to be there this weekend. Not all good news however as the West Islanders are going to be without superstar goal scoring machine Sean Smallwood who has opted to not play again this home and away season. The Burning Man festival has also cost the team Matt Davidson and Tony Cunningham will also be unavailable for selection. The Eagles bolster one of the richest lists in the league so they will have plenty of numbers that’s for sure. Edis, Kempster and Davidson have yet to be on the pitch at the same time this season; maybe a sign of things to come for Finals. Both these teams lost heartbreakers so it will be interesting to see what happens. The Dockers seem to be very strong in the middle and this punter believes that they should finish the match ahead. Dockers by 15 points.
