The “Sporting Snippets Hall of Fame” When Portaferry GAC made - TopicsExpress

The “Sporting Snippets Hall of Fame” When Portaferry GAC made history recently by claiming the Ulster Club Senior Hurling Championship for the very first time, the good folk down at the bottom of the Ards Peninsula certainly had genuine cause for celebrations. Nobody felt more proud of the team’s victory over Cushendall at Owenbeg than work volunteer Oliver Kirkpatrick whose sterling service, resolute attitude and enthusiastic efforts around the Ballyfounder Road location are legendary. Oliver tackles the many and varied odd jobs around the Club headquarters with relish, and his devotion regarding operating the machinery and cutting the grass are essential qualities which are much appreciated by the entire membership. For Oliver the attention to detail demands 7-days-a-week application and he clearly has all the attributes which make him a valued member of the Club. Oliver retains a very unpretentious perspective on the contribution he makes, by underlining the thought that he is only one of a large number of devotees whose efforts contribute to the well-being of Portaferry GAC. While it is abundantly clear that the Ards Borough Club is indeed the subject of much voluntary input, it is without doubt very appreciative to the efforts made by Oliver Kirkpatrick. Now, with the Portaferry Club looking forward to an All-Ireland Semi-Final contest against the Munster Champions, it is very appropriate that we should welcome Oliver Kirkpatrick from the organisation as the latest recruit to the “Sporting Snippets Hall of Fame.”
