The Standing Committee of Scholarly Research and Ifta in Saudi Arabia Speaks About the Oppression against the Muslims in Palestine and Gaza All praise belongs to Allah and may the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon the most noble of Prophets and Messengers; our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family members, companions, and those whom follow them in truth until the Day of Judgment. To Proceed: Indeed, The Standing Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been following - with great sadness, grief and pain - what has been happening to the Muslims in Palestine and particularly in the Gaza Strip. The ongoing oppression and killing of children, women, the elderly, the violation of the sanctity, the destruction of homes and facilities, in addition to terrorizing the safety of civilians. Without a doubt, this criminality and injustice against the Palestinian people and this traumatic event mandates that the Muslims (of the World) stand in support of their Palestinian brothers and sisters in faith. They (the Muslims of the World) must cooperate with them, diligently support and help them in order to remove this injustice against them. They must do so using the available means and resources in achievement of Islamic brotherhood and unity of faith. Allah The Most High said: {Indeed the believers are brothers} [Surah al Hujuraat: 10] He The Almighty also said: {The believing men and women are helpers and supporters of one another.} [Surah al Tawbah: 71] The Prophet ( Sallallahu Alyhi Wasalam ) stated: “Indeed the believer to the believer is like one structure.” (Then he joined his fingers) [Sahih al Bukhari and Sahih Muslim] He (Sallallahu Alyhi Wasalam ) also mentioned: “The example of the believers in their mutual love, mercy and compassion, are like one body, if one part complained of pain, the rest of the body would suffer from sickness and fever. [Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim] He (Sallallahu Alyhi Wasalam ) likewise stated: “The Muslim is the brother to the Muslim. He does not oppress him, cheat him, betray him, or belittle him.” [Sahih Muslim] The support (which is mandatory upon the Muslims of the World toward the Palestinians) comprises of many aspects - according to one’s ability and according to the circumstances. This support can be either financial or moral, and likewise can come from the general body of Muslims (nongovernment). They can donate money, food, medicine, clothing and other than that. This aid can also be established by the Arab and Islamic countries through facilitating humanitarian goods to them and sincerely supporting them and defending their cases in forums, associations, and international conferences. All of these means of cooperation upon piety and righteousness are mandated in the statement of Allah The Almighty: {Help one another in virtue and piety} [Surah al Maidah: 2] This support is also established by being diligent in directing and guiding them to what is better for them and their well-being. From the greatest means of supporting them is supplicating for them at all times. We should supplicate that their calamity be lifted from them, their hardship be removed, their affairs be rectified, and that they are successful in their actions and statements. We similarly advise our Muslim brothers in Palestine to fear Allah and repent to Him. In addition, we advise them with unity upon the truth, and that they forsake division and disputes. Division allows the enemy to exploit this weakness and bring about greater abuse and a further weakness. We urge them to do what they are capable of to lift the oppression from their land. They should do so while being sincere to Allah and seeking His Face. They should seek assistance by being patient, establishing prayer, and conducting consultation with the people of knowledge, intellect and wisdom in all their affairs. Doing so is an indication of success and correctness. In addition, we call upon the wise men of the world and the general international community to look at this disaster with intellect and fairness in order to give the Palestinian people their rights and remove this injustice so that they can live decent lives. At the same time, we thank all those who’ve contributed to their support and aid, from countries and individuals. We ask Allah by His Magnificent Names and Lofty Attributes to remove the grief from this Ummah and to elevate His religion and His Word. We also ask Him to support His awliyaa (those beloved to Him) and to humiliate and debase His enemies, and that He protects the Muslims from their evil. Indeed Allah is The One responsible for carrying this out, and He is able to do all things. May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family members and companions and who follow them in truth until the Day of Judgment.
