The Sun unleashed two bursts of plasma over a two-day period that were remarkably similar in position and shape (June 3-5, 2014). The bulbous eruptions were observed by SOHOs C3 coronagraph. The two feet of the source of the expanding clouds are rooted in regions of opposite magnetic polarity on the Suns surface. In these images the Sun, represented by the small, white circle in the upper right, is blocked by the blue occulting disk so that we can see the fainter structures beyond that disk. ☤
