The Super 8 boxing tournament takes place on Saturday, 22 November at the North Shore Events Centre in New Zealand. The undercard starts at 4.30pm (AEDT).What: Super 8 Super Fight Night Who: Eight of the best cruiserweight fighters in Oceania When: Saturday, 22 November Where: North Shore Events Centre - Auckland I can watch it on: Main Event What is it? The Super 8 is an eight man elimination tournament featuring seven fights over the course of one night of boxing action. Four quarter-finals fights, starting at 7pm, will determine the semi-finalists, with the final to be held the same night. The quarters and semis are 3 x 3 minute rounds with the final a 4 x 3 minute bout. The quarter-final match-ups will be drawn randomly at the weigh-in the day before the event. The winner walks out with the Oceania Cruiserweight title. Shane Cameron headlines the event when he fights Kali Meehan for the Pan African Heavyweight title. Exciting Kiwi prospect David Aloua is also on the undercard, taking on Daniel Baff. Who are these blokes anyway? Brad Hollywood Pitt 14-1-0 (12 KO) - Australias number one ranked cruiserweight and the 2006 Commonwealth Games Heavyweight Gold Medallist. He represented Australia at the 2008 Olympics and is the pre-tournament favourite but was knocked out by David Aloua in the fourth round of his last fight in April this year. Daniel The Doberman Ammann 29-7-1 (6 KO) - Is the second favourite but lost his only two fights this year. A southpaw, Ammann is the most experienced fighter in the competition and is the only person to beat the impressive David Aloua as a professional. Monty Mad Dog Filimaea 9-10-1 (5 KO) - Its not the best record but Mad Dog, who says boxing saved him from a life of crime, has won seven of his last eight fights. The only loss was a second round KO to Aloua, and theres no shame in that. He had no amateur bouts and lost his six fights before David Tua started training him. Lance Buster Bryant 3-0-0 (2 KO) - Bryant has only had three professional bouts but is an incredibly experienced amateur fighter, with 44 wins and six losses before turning pro. He knocked out Pitt in the amateur ranks but is still only the sixth favourite with the bookies. Israel Adesanya - Adesanya is a New Zealand champion kickboxer but will make his boxing debut in the Super 8 event. The world class Muay Thai fighter, known as the Broken Native moved to New Zealand from Nigeria with his parents when he was 11 and entered the Super 8 as a wild card. He has won similar elimination events in kick-boxing in the past. Vaitele Soi 22-0-0 (16 KO) - The undefeated Samoan fighter is the third favourite to take out the crown. His fights have been held across New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga but the Super 8 will be his biggest stage to date. He hasnt fought in almost a year, but won a similar tournament - Last Man Standing - in Auckland in 2011. James Emmerson 1-2 (0 KO) - A former New Zealand Golden Gloves champion, what Emmerson lacks in experience he makes up for in guts. The Scottish born 30 year olds debut was a controversial four round decision loss to fellow Super 8 contender Filimaea. Joseph Kwadjo 21-7 (16 KO) - Kwadjo, the Ghanaian born resident of Fiji won the Australasian Super Middleweight title in a huge upset over Jamie Pittman in 2008. Kwadjo has lost four of his last five fights over the last four years, the most recent being a unanimous decision defeat to Australian up-and-comer Reynold Quinlan on the Mundine-Mosley undercard in 2013. Our Prediction - Monty Mad Dog Filimaea has a great backstory, but its hard to go past the experience and talent of Brad Pitt.
