The Thompson Alumni Center is hosting the inaugural North American Korean Philosophy Association (NAKPA) conference beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 22, through Friday, Oct. 24. The theme of this first of its kind conference will be “The Spirit of Korean Philosophy: Six Debates and Their Significance for Asian and Western Philosophy.” The conference, which is free and open to the public, will cover topics such as the impact of Buddhism and Confucianism in Korea, aspects of Korean morality and how traditional philosophies can be interpreted in Korea today. The Academy of Korean Studies in Seongnam, South Korea is sponsoring this event.
