The Tom Crean Endurance Walk On Saturday 21st (Mid-Summers Day) 103 enthusiastic walkers set out in glorious sunshine on the challenging 19 mile Tom Crean Endurance Walk. Having climbed Mount Brandon & Brandon Peak walkers defended to the saddle at Mullach Bheal where they re-energised with energy bars courtesy of Landers Tralee and some water, before tackling the steep slopes of Ballysitorugh At the Connor Pass further sustenance was provided compliments of Garveys Supervalu Dingle. Walkers continued along the ridge top Coumdubh, following a steep decent to the road they proceeded to the final leg on the newly developed river walk. They emerged top great cheers from supporters at the South Pole Inn Annascaul. Tom Crean Medallions were presented by Julian & Rosemary Evans, grandchildren of Lt. Teddy Evans & Michael Smith, author of Tom Crean Unsung Hero, to the accompaniment of Cliff Wedgbury poetry and song. Walkers ended the day with a barbecue hosted by Hanafins Bar Annascaul , Annascaul House Bed & Breakfast & The Old Anchor Inn B&B, Annascaul, Co Kerry The day was a huge success and we would like to thank the sponsors, the organisers and the hard working team at Annascaul Walks Tom George Devane P.R.O.
