The Tombstone Archives include much of the written, factual history that gives Tombstone, Arizona and its legend its flavor of romance and allure. Within the Archives are records of the Town Council, maps, ordinances, pictures, tax records, court recorders dockets, newspapers and more that date back to 1879. Prominent historical figures featured within the Archives collections include: Wyatt Earp, Virgil Earp, Ike Clanton, John Behan, Doc Holiday and many others. Nancy Sosa is the Tombstone archivist and was hired as the historical records manager responsible for reviving the records from a decaying, moldy and unorganized state. They are being catalogued, cleaned and restored. The city lives off of the tourism generated from its wild past, and without donations to keep these Archives protected, they will cease to be available for researchers, authors, movie makers and anyone in the curious public who wants to see and touch the real history of this town. The small community of 1500 that inhabit Tombstone and survive on the stories of their past need your help because THIS HISTORY IS BEING THREATENED! Like many small towns, Tombstones financial cuts roll back city services. The Foundation for the Tombstone Archives has been formed to protect, preserve and promote the historic records of Tombstone and to directly channel money to the Archives. The Foundation is an Arizona non profit Corporation and has federal 501(c)(3) status enabling all donations made to be tax deductible. Without the necessary funding to sustain this work, Tombstone and the millions of visitors it draws every decade will not benefit from this great historical resource. gofundme/SaveTheTombstoneArchives
