The Twelve BASICS one by one #1… Probe prayerfully your heart before the LORD, as you seek to consistently practice repentance towards God and faith towards the LORD Jesus Christ… The following is a series of twelve writings on the subject of the BASICS… Believers Acquiring Spiritual Insights and Character Scripturally…. Probe prayerfully your heart before the LORD, as you seek to consistently practice repentance towards God and faith towards the LORD Jesus Christ…. Search me (God spiritual and scripturally searches our hearts to convict us of sin righteousness, and judgment through the absolute authority of the Scripture and the Spirit.), O God (The idea when the expression “O God” is used is one of deep sincere heartfelt desire.), and know (instruct) my heart (The heart is the inner man of the believer whose intellect, emotions, and will have been regenerated by being born again, by the Spirit of God; whereas, Jesus Christ has become one’s Saviour, God, and LORD through repentance towards God and faith towards the LORD Jesus Christ.): try me, and know my thoughts (Within our sin nature our thoughts are carnal, contentious, and confused. However, through our new man or the regenerated spiritual man our thoughts are being conformed to the very thoughts of God through meditation upon the Scriptures and perceiving the LORD Jesus Christ through the Spirit; see 2 Corinthians 3:17-18.): And see if there be any wicked way (sin) in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (To be “lead into the way of everlasting” is to be led by the insights of Scripture and the influences Spirit into a personal intimate relationship with God the Father and the Son the LORD Jesus Christ, not just with a future eternal reality, but with earthly spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural reality from the moment the believer is saved; see John 17:1-3.). Psalm 139:23-24 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God (As one spiritually and scripturally seeks and sincerely receives God’s heart searching they will be convicted of sin, righteousness, and judgment, which should led to being humble before God with a contrite heart given to confession and forsaking of sin. We must not cover our sin but confess such as sin and with God’s help forsake our sin. He that covereth [to make excuses for, deny, or blame others for] his sins [anything that is contrary to God’s Word, will, way, and work] shall not prosper [spiritually, scripturally, and supernaturally]: but whoso confesseth [agrees with God sin is sin] and forsaketh [turns from the practice of such with God’s help] them shall have mercy [Mercy is God withholding deserved judgment, whereas God can then show those who will receive, by faith, such, grace, which is God’s undeserved favor, goodness, and blessing.]), and faith (Now faith (credence, conviction, realization) is the substance (confidence) of things (comprehension of spiritual, spiritual, and supernatural events or actions) hoped (to confide or expect) for, the evidence (conviction, reality) of things not seen [Faith comprehends the spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural events or actions in the eternal realm or existence of God [God willing such], before God manifests such in the earthly visible realm or existence of the believer.]. Hebrews 11:1) toward our Lord Jesus Christ (The LORD Jesus Christ is the object of our faith for salvation and sanctification, as well as all aspects of the saint’s spiritual, scriptural, and supernatural life and experience in manifesting God in this life.). Act 20:21 There are three aspects of sin that we should be aware of… • Sins of ignorance… • Sins of immaturity… • Sins of an independent presumptuous spirit (deliberate sin)… There are three root sins of all sin that we must be aware of and consistently confess and forsake… • Pride… • Unbelief… • Self-righteousness… I teach that the above is one of the twelve most BASIC spiritual and scriptural disciplines a believer can practice. Specially, this is one of the first five I consider, as the five spiritual and scriptural (disciplines) fingers to have a firm hand grasp on mighty hand of the LORD Jesus Christ. When counseling I address the one being counseled to start to practice such; in which, they usually are not doing consistently such. Specifically they are instructed to consistently practice repentance of their sin in general and the specific sin(s) or issues of their heart they are seeking victory. In addition, I seek to teach hem the three root sins of all sin: pride, unbelief, and self-righteousness that they must start to understand are the roots of their sin, which needs to be confessed and forsaken. I would encourage anyone offering spiritual and scriptural counsel to struggling brother or sister in Christ to do likewise. Whether it is salvation or sanctification that is being addresses it all starts with practicing repentance towards God and faith towards the LORD Jesus Christ, so this is the number one discipline to address. By the way if you truly want revival in your local church teach the brethren consistently to practice the BASICS and you got a revival started. I am available for such revival emphasis being preached in your local church. Just let me know of your interest and the LORD’S leadership. Please pray for the H.O.P.E.
