The U.S. Embassy in Yaounde has an opening for a Driver. This position is located in Yaounde. Opening Date: September 17, 2014 Closing Date: October 1, 2014 Work Hours: Full time 45 hours/week Grade: FSN-03; FP-BB BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION: Incumbent serves as driver for the Marine Security Guard (MSG). Duties include: driving MSG vehicles (passenger car, station wagon) within the city or vicinity and, occasionally on long trips; providing assistance to the Airport Expediter as needed; receiving daily assignments from MSG and occasionally from the dispatcher and the Motor Pool Supervisor; keeping assigned vehicle clean and in presentable condition at all times; keeping track of vehicle operation records; making minor repairs and changing tires as necessary. Qualifications Required: Note: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. 1. Education: Completion of High School (GCE “A” level, Baccalauréat or equivalent) is required. 2. Experience: At least two years driving experience for an international organization or a large local institution is required. 3. Language: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and French are required and will be tested. 4. Knowledge: Applicant must know Cameroonian traffic laws and have a good knowledge of the main cities’ streets. He/She must be able to make minor repairs on vehicles. Job knowledge may be tested. 5. Skills/Abilities: Incumbent must be able to pass the pre-employment eye examination. Incumbent is expected to be highly flexible in terms of being able to work during the week and weekends to cover mission requirements. A valid driver’s license (Categories B, C, and D) is required. Skills and abilities may be tested. SELECTION PROCESS: When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application. ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA: 1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy. 2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. 3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply. 4. Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. 5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
