The US Navy has plans to post trucks on 15 sites in the Olympic Peninsula beginning in 2015. These mobile vehicles will be equipped with ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIANTION EQUIPMENT so they can practice war games. The environmental coordinator, Greg Wahl for the US Forest Service has issued a finding of no significant impact which eliminates the need for an Environmental Impact Statement. (!!!) This should be an outrage to anyone who cares about one of the few remaining coniferous, temperate rain forest in the United States. The Navy states it will post warning signs and boundary markers to prevent exposure to humans and that they will shut-down if large game is present. I dont know how much time anyone spends in the forest but game has a means of blending so well with their surroundings that they can remain virtually invisible and FYI they cant read. The Navy doesnt mention the effects of localized radiation on small animals, birds, fish, amphibious life or insects. These magnificent rainforests are the result of a delicate balance of rich soil, heavy rains and moist sea air; each element, every microbe, insect and centipede is essental to its health. No government agency - no one! has the right to state that localized radiation wont have any significant impact. Please join with me and protest this outrage.
