“The US and Israel seek to get Muslim countries entangled in domestic problems, and to that end, they use the Takfiri groups, which are the puppets of the US and their regional allies,” said Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s Majlis Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Saturday. “The Muslim world should foil these plots with prudence and not allow the US-Israeli schemes to yield results,” he added. Boroujerdi pointed to the Thursday blast in Lebanon, noting, “This is the continuation of the moves designed by the US and Zionists long ago to disrupt security in regional countries, so that they could capitalize on the internal divisions in Islamic countries to ensure the security of the Zionist regime (Israel).” Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Friday that Takfiri groups were behind the car bomb attack, which left 24 people dead in southern Beirut. The Iranian legislator expressed concern over the ongoing crisis in Egypt and called on the Egyptian elite and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to “take prompt action” to prevent further violence in the country. “It is necessary that the foreign ministers of Islamic countries convene a joint meeting to resolve the regional crisis,” he added.
