The United States is one of the founding members of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI), a partnership among governments, international organizations, and non-government organizations designed to protect coral reefs globally. The U.S. currently is participating in the ICRI 29th General Meeting in Okinawa, Japan, where members are discussing, among other issues of importance to #coralreefs, community-based conservation and management.
