The University of Maryland is hosting a conference on Saturday, November 9,2013 entitled "Conflict and Inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean." Keynote Address by Professor Eve Bratman of The American University’s School of International Service and author of Development’s Crossroads: Infrastructure, Sustainability, and Human Rights in the Brazilian Amazon, forthcoming We invite students to submit an abstract (350 words maximum) of a paper, dissertation, or work-in-progress reflecting the theme of “Conflict and Inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean.” We welcome all approaches to the topic. The abstract should state the geographic and/or thematic focus of the paper and the temporal frame, as well as the paper’s argument or hypothesis. Abstracts may be submitted in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. The final deadline for submission is Friday, September 13, 2013 by 7 pm EST. Please submit abstracts to lascgradconf@gmail. We will inform applicants of their acceptance or rejection by Friday, September 20, 2013.
