The University of Oregon Ducks took themselves out of the Rose Bowl today by not showing up mentally and physically against lowly Arizona losing 42-16. Throughout the year my youngest son and I would notice sloppy habits by the Ducks, which they got away with until Stanford and today. These sloppy habits: failure to deal with detail, stupid penalties, lack of focus, and a minimal intensity finally totally hit them in the face today. (You dont see the great teams consistently display these traits.) They had no business losing to Arizona, but when youre not ready to work, bad things can happen. I attribute this to a lack of discipline all year from the head coaching staff down to the team. Usually that is the case when the aforementioned sloppy habits take place in a game in any sport. The Ducks will now play for a minor tier bowl; with the attitude of today, I wonder if they deserve a bowl game. Their last regular season game is Friday the 29th against Oregon State. I still love my Ducks, 18 of the 22 starters return next season; I hope Coach Helfrich brings more corporate boundaries and discipline for the 2014 edition of the Duck Football team. WIN THE DAY!
