The VLAC crew would like to congratulate Eliza Rutherford and her gelding Formula 1 (F1) of Foxwood Hanoverians in Charlotte, VT for their recent accomplishments which include: USDF 2 year old National Champion, American Hanoverian Society 2 year old National Champion and NEDA 2 year old National Champion. F1 has been a very special patient to VLAC for many reasons, here is his story: F1’s dam, elite mare Dallara owned by Eliza Rutherford, underwent colic surgery in 2008 at VLAC with Dr. Phil and has been able to continue her successful broodmare carrier post-surgery. F1 was born in 2012 at Foxwood by the German stallion Fidertanz. F1 showed once as a foal and was Grand Champion. Shortly thereafter he developed a life treating bacterial Rhodoccus infection for which he underwent successful surgery with Dr. Phil at VLAC. After recovering from this surgery, he was gelded as a yearling and once again had to overcome another infection. Despite these hurdles, he went on to win his yearling futurity that ranked him seventh in the nation. As a two year old he was Grand Champion in every show he was entered in, which earned him the honors of USDF 2 year old National Champion, American Hanoverian Society 2 year old National Champion and NEDA 2 year old National Champion. His median score is the second highest score of all horses (breeds and ages) in the USDF Sport Horse Breeding rankings in 2014. We are all so proud to have been a part of F1’s story.
