The Vela Luka Croatian Dance Ensemble performs a free concert of traditional Croatian folk dance and music from 2 to 3 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 17 at Peace Arch State Park near Blaine. This is the third concert in the parks International Concert Series. The ensemble was founded in 1975 in Anacortes by immigrants from the Croatian fishing village of Vela Luka on the island of KorĨula in the Adriatic Sea. The group aims to preserve the ethnic and cultural identity of their homeland.
