The Village of Dwight played host to a delegation from Shenzhen,China. The group arrived in Chicago on September 12 and they are staying till December 12, they are here learning about government and democracy. They are visting small communities like Dwight, Orland Park and cities such as Chicago and Detroit. The group asked a great amount of questions, for example, the difference between city, townships and county and why so many layers of government. They also asked how do citizens get their opinions heard by the myself and the board. We took them on a tour of Donnellys, Chad Lundberg and Earl McCoy were our host and showed us the plant and sat down for a Q&A session. Afterwards I took them to Ambler Becker gas station and Dinner at Station 343. I can say spending the day with them Thursday was a memorable and very educational experience.
