The Weeb Analyzes for no reason: When people talk about the Lion King, a point of discussion is usually brought up about how Scar was such a shitty leader that he caused the apocalypse. Some people say that Disney wanted him to be extra evil, while others find other asspull reasons as to why Scar caused a drought. The drought actually a sort-of carry over from the source material it is based on, Hamlet. Kinda. The drought is actually the result of a philosophy held by Elizabethan-era Brits (and many other Europeans, especially Christians) called the Great Chain of Being The theory behind this is that everything in the universe fits into a gigantic cosmology with God at the top, followed by angels, then Royalty, then regular people, animals, non-living things, ect ect A common belief associated with this theory is that if you disrupt the chain, I.E. try to usurp a position that doesnt belong to you, it would be disastrous (and fundamentally blasphemous as God created the chain of being) Scar was brother of the king, and he usurped Mufasa. This action was somebody on a lower level of the great chain trying to usurp a higher level, I.E. the king. When the great chain is disrupted, cataclysm happens, in other words the drought that we see. When the chain is restored (Simba taking back the throne from the Usurper) everything goes back to being prosperous. This ideology is sprinkled all throughout Shakespeare (which as I said, his work, Hamlet was the inspiration of the Lion King) for instance, In Julius Ceasar, the senators planned to kill the King Julius Ceasar and disrupt the chain. Hours before the murder, a horrible storm began and lions roamed the streets, and chilled with the animals they preyed on (basically) The More you Know!
