The West Washington County Community Unit District #10 Board of Education met last Thursday night and Superintendent Scott Fuhrhop says they held a Budget hearing first and then voted on it later in the regular meeting. He says the Fiscal Year 2015 Budget is balanced and it was approved by the Board. The Board also approved a field trip for the FFA group to attend the National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky near the end of October. Football could be coming to Okawville, in a way. Fuhrhop explains that the Board gave him permission to contact Nashville High School about the possibility of it, but they are just investigating the possibility. He says they had a survey and there was enough interest to investigate it. They accepted the resignation of instructional aide, Janna Beckman, and then they hired Theresa Thies to replace her. They also hired Amy Collins as Junior High School Cheerleading Coach. He updated the Board that the flooring is inspected every month as there are problems with it, but they aren’t sure if it is the floor itself or the way it was installed. Also, the concession stand was worked on again this weekend and the outside was expected to be finished, so they can begin working on the inside.
